The Simpson Elementary Science & Engineering Fair is a favorite annual school tradition and a great work-show-and-tell experience. Participation empowers our students to think through the answers to their questions and engage with volunteer scientist judges. Open to every grade, the Science Fair builds confidence, improving problem-solving and communication skills.
The top experiment projects in grade 5 move on to the Gwinnett County Science Fair, at which the students have the opportunity to exhibit their work and discuss their discoveries with volunteer judges who are experts in their field, and compete for a variety of special awards and prizes.
Projects may consist of a demonstration / model or an experiment with a scientific objective. Demonstration / Model Projects demonstrate a scientifically interesting phenomenon or a technology. Experimental Projects require a testable hypothesis, documentation of how the hypothesis was tested, and the conclusions.
The yearly success of this event is a direct result of the ideas and hard work of our students, and the active engagement of our parent and community volunteers. All the information you need to start thinking about your participation is below, or you can contact the PTA committee with questions or to help.
